KNOXVILLE – Melvin McBride has signed with Tennessee.
McBride is a 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive lineman from Whitehaven High School in Memphis.
Whitehaven head coach Rodney Saulsberry discussed McBride with Vols Wire.
“He has a tremendous up-size,” Saulsberry told Vols Wire. “He is extremely athletic for a kid his size.”
Saulsberry says McBride “plays offensive tackle, but will probably play guard in college.”
“For the first year he really learned the game,” Saulsberry said. “It is amazing how much he has gravitated to the game. He is a dominant, point of attack guy. It looks like he weighs 280-pounds, but he weighs 315-pounds, so he is a well put together kid. He is an etch-a-sketch player, you draw up what you want, a kid designed to play football.”
