Vols improving in practice over last month

KNOXVILLE — Jeremy Pruitt sees improvement in his team at practice.

Over the last month, UT’s improvement has resulted in spending extra time at the end of practice with younger players.

“It’s probably four or five consecutive weeks in a row I see guys improving,” Pruitt said on his weekly radio show “Vol Calls” ahead of playing Kentucky. “We’ve been spending extra time at the end of practice with a lot of our young guys, and you see a lot of guys that’s been on the scout team all year that have made strides.”

Pruitt also addressed Tennessee’s improvement during his final press conference this week, saying players have been working hard and competition has been seen throughout practices.

“Our guys have continued to work hard,” Pruitt said. “It’s been several weeks in a row that I feel like we’ve improved at practice. There’s been lots of competition, still good on good, which has given us an opportunity to improve. I see guys that have been on the scout team all year and have worked really hard and you can see it.

“We’ve done a lot of periods in the last couple of weeks with our younger guys at the end of practice, and I think you can see the improvement and development there. Again, we’ve talked about Kentucky. They’re very well-coached, a very good football team, tough, has good experience, so we have to really play well.”
