KNOXVILLE — Tennessee (4-5, 1-4 SEC) is needing two more wins in the three remaining regular season games to become bowl eligible.

Moving the chains for first downs is an area that Tennessee will need to improve on during the next three games to have a better chance of becoming bowl eligible.

First Downs UK Week

The Vols rank last in total first downs among SEC teams with 153 total (77 passing, 61 rushing, 15 by penalty). UT ranks last in the SEC in first downs on rushing plays (61) and 11th for first downs on passing plays (77).

Kentucky, Tennessee’s Week 11 opponent, ranks fifth in the SEC in first downs given up (154). Kentucky’s defense has given up 68 rushing first downs, 68 passing first downs and 18 first downs by penalty.
