Pruitt discusses balancing recruiting and November games ahead of Early National Signing Period

KNOXVILLE — With Tennessee reaching November games on the schedule, Jeremy Pruitt was asked about balancing recruiting and game preparation ahead of the Early National Signing Period starting December 19 and concluding December 21.

Pruitt said that he does not think that the Early Signing Period puts a strain on him or UT’s coaching staff.

“No, I don’t think so,” Pruitt said. “If you’re not recruiting every day then you’re probably not going to be a good recruiter, so we’ve got to be good recruiters regardless of when the signing date is. I think our guys know that.”

The Evaluation Period is currently ongoing after beginning Sept. 1 and will end Nov. 24. The Evaluation Period consists of 42 evaluation days and 54 for U.S. service academies. During this time, authorized off-campus recruiters cannot visit a prospective student-athlete’s educational institution on more than one calendar day during the Evaluation Period.

Beginning Nov. 25, 2018, through Feb. 2, 2019 is the Contact Period. During this time, six in-person off-campus contacts per prospective student-athlete are permitted.
