KNOXVILLE — Jeremy Pruitt and Bryan McClendon will reunite when Tennessee takes on South Carolina.

McClendon is in his first season as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator after being co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach the last two seasons for the Gamecocks.

In 2014-15, Pruitt and McClendon coached together at Georgia. Pruitt served as defensive coordinator and McClendon as wide receiver (2015) and running backs (2014) coach for the Bulldogs. McClendon was also named interim head coach for the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl following Mark Richt’s departure from Georgia.

Pruitt discussed his relationship with McClendon ahead of playing South Carolina.

“B-Mac is a phenomenal recruiter, really good coach and very detailed,” Pruitt said. “He got an opportunity to be an offensive coordinator and has done a really good job.

“They’re very balanced, they’re multiple in their formations and they can beat you a bunch of different ways. He’s a great guy to work with, has a great family and does an outstanding job.”

South Carolina (3-3, 2-3 SEC) is averaging 28.8 points per game and 250.3 passing yards and 153.7 rushing yards per contest.

Tennessee (3-4, 1-3 SEC) is giving up 30.0 points per game and 223.1 passing yards and 162.0 rushing yards on average in 2018.
