Jauan Jennings: Chryst ‘stepped up in a big situation’

KNOXVILLE –– Redshirt junior wide receiver Jauan Jennings is leading Tennessee in receptions this season.

Jennings has caught 23 passes for 309 yards and has scored two touchdowns.

In the last two games against Alabama and Auburn, Jennings has totaled 11 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown.

“I’m just going out there, playing football and running my route as fast as I can,” Jennings said of getting into a rhythm the last two games. “When the ball comes my way, I make the catch. That’s all it is.”

Jarrett Guarantano left the game against Alabama due to injury and Stanford graduate transfer quarterback Keller Chryst came in.

Chryst was 9-of-15 for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Jennings said Chryst “stepped up in a big situation and played to the best of his capability, and that’s all we can ask for.”

Tennessee is set to travel to South Carolina this week for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on the SEC Network.

“It’s a great environment to go on the road and play football in,” Jennings said. “It’s always great to play football, and it will be a challenge for our team. We’re just getting ready and I can’t wait for this weekend.”
