KNOXVILLE – Tennessee (3-4, 1-3 SEC) will need to put the 58-21 loss to No. 1 Alabama behind them with five regular season games remaining.

Tennessee needs three more victories to become bowl eligible.

After the Alabama loss, Jeremy Pruitt mentioned that the game was too big for some of his players against the No. 1 ranked team.

“I think we learned a lot about our football team today,” Pruitt said. “There are some guys we had on our team that this game was way too big for them, and I think everyone was able to see that. It helps us, and we’ll move on with it.”

Pruitt also sent a message in recruiting to bring in more players into the program. The first-year UT head coach also detailed differences in players on Alabama’s sideline to Tennessee’s.

“You look at their sideline and look at our sideline, they hardly look the same,” he said. “But we do have some guys on our team who are committed to the University of Tennessee and are doing it the right way.

“They’ve got to help us recruit, because we didn’t have enough guys out there today who wanted to do it the right way. But I do think we have a good core group in this bunch who will be the foundation moving forward, and we’ve got a group of guys in here who want to compete and play like they do everyday.”
