KNOXVILLE — Jeremy Pruitt played at Alabama from 1995-96 after transferring from Middle Tennessee State.

Pruitt experienced the Third Saturday in October twice as a player, losing both contests to Tennessee. Under Nick Saban as an assistant, Pruitt was on the winning end eight times in as many games against Tennessee.

As Pruitt approaches his first Third Saturday in October contest as a head coach for Tennessee, his former Alabama head coach Gene Stallings checks in with him almost weekly during his first season at UT.

“Coach Stallings has checked in with me almost every week,” Pruitt said during the SEC media teleconference. “He has given me some good advice, I’m very appreciative of that.

“As a first-time head coach, you have your own ideas, but make no mistake I work with some really good men and played for some really good coaches. You draw from all of those experiences and relationships.”
