KNOXVILLE — Jeremy Pruitt will face Gus Malzahn and Auburn’s offense for the sixth consecutive season when Tennessee plays at Auburn in Week 7.

As defensive coordinator, Pruitt went 4-1 against Auburn.

On the weekly SEC teleconference, Pruitt was asked about facing Malzahn and the Tigers’ second-year offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey.

“Offensively they do a really good job,” Pruitt said. “I’ve coached against Gus and Chip over the years, so we’re familiar with each other. They present all kind of challenges, different personnel.

“They make you play the whole width of the field. They stretch it, can make you run it, big, explosive plays in the throw game. They have good players. Quarterback can make all the throws, can extend with his feet, has experience.”

Pruitt and Lindsey came up through the Alabama high school ranks and both spent time coaching at Hoover High School under Rush Propst.
