KNOXVILLE — Jeremy Pruitt took part in his weekly radio show Vol Calls ahead of the Florida game.

Pruitt was asked about the decision to play Keller Chryst over Jarrett Guarantano before halftime against UTEP.

Pruitt’s response was a breakdown of the quarterback position through the first three games of the season.

“The first week we wasn’t going to play Keller,” Pruitt said. “We were going to let JG (Guarantano) be the guy unless something happened. I think we’ve been pretty clear all along that we were going to play both guys.

“Keller played pretty well against East Tennessee State. The way the (UTEP) game worked out, losing a possession there in the first half, I wanted to make sure that we got him in; and just from a two-minute situation, he’s done a really good job executing it, so I didn’t see no need to wait until the second half. I have confidence in Jarrett. I have confidence in Keller.”
