KNOXVILLE – Continuity on the offensive line is a key area for Tennessee as SEC play nears in two weeks.

A 59-3 victory over East Tennessee State provided a needed matchup to help breed confidence and allowing for player personnel to continue of building continuity upfront.

Sophomore offensive lineman Ryan Johnson met with media following the win and discussed the unit.

“It gives us a lot of confidence, but we really have to go back to the film and reel back and keep executing, focusing, and getting better,” Johnson said. “Wins can be deceiving. You have to keep working, keep pushing forward, and focus on the next team.

“We have to focus on UTEP, and we don’t need to look back. We did some great things, but we can always improve. This week was a great step forward for the UT football program.”

Johnson also mentioned that the offensive line will develop once positions are settled.

“The more snaps you have, you can always get better,” he said. “I think that will help us a whole lot. Like I said before, we’ve been moving around positions since spring ball, so I feel like everyone has a good handle on a lot of positions. But being able to play the same position for multiple games is a great advantage.”

Tennessee will take on UTEP next before hosting Florida to kickoff SEC play.
