UT program has suffered 18, 25-point losses in post-Fulmer era

Tennessee’s 26-point loss to West Virginia to kickoff the 2018 season was the program’s 18th 25-point loss since Phillip Fulmer left Tennessee as head coach after the 2008 season.

During Fulmer’s head coaching tenure (1993-2008), Tennessee suffered only six defeats by 25 or more points.

The loss to West Virginia was Tennessee’s 57th since 2009 following Fulmer’s tenure. From 1993-2008, Fulmer lost 52 games as UT’s head coach.

With Fulmer back within the program as athletics director and hand-picking Jeremy Pruitt as head coach, Pruitt is coaching with the hand that has been dealt to him this season as he continues the build the program with the administration behind him to give him time to do so.
