Melvin McBride committed to Tennessee for the 2019 class.
McBride, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive lineman from Whitehaven High School in Memphis also holds other SEC offers from Arkansas, Florida and South Carolina.
Whitehaven head coach Rodney Saulsberry discussed McBride’s commitment with Vols Wire.
“He has a tremendous up-size,” Saulsberry told Vols Wire. “He is extremely athletic for a kid his size.”
McBride is in his second season playing football and has quickly picked up the game.
Saulsberry says McBride “plays offensive tackle, but will probably play guard in college.”
“For the first year he really learned the game,” Saulsberry said. “It is amazing how much he has gravitated to the game. He is a dominant, point of attack guy. It looks like he weighs 280-pounds, but he weighs 315-pounds, so he is a well put together kid. He is an etch-a-sketch player, you draw up what you want, a kid designed to play football.”
